Voor Joie de Vivre vroegen Sacha de Boer (fotograaf), Babs Assink (journalist) en Janine Smits (stylist) tien topchefs om - op basis van recepten uit een klassiek Frans kookboek uit 1873 - ieder twee originele en moderne menu's te ontwikkelen. De 60 overheerlijke gerechten die zo ontstonden, en die door Sacha prachtig werden gefotografeerd, zijn ook door thuiskoks goed te maken.

De drie hartsvriendinnen houden van het Franse leven en brengen geregeld samen tijd door in Janines oude huis in de Bourgogne. Koken, lekker eten en goede gesprekken spelen daarbij altijd een belangrijke rol. Het lifestyle kookboek Joie de Vivre is hun ode, en die van de tien chefs, aan de Franse keuken.
