A new algorithm quickly geo-references scans and detects changes by comparing to baseline models. This algorithm has been integrated with a simple, intuitive GUI.
Change detection in the field offers significant advantages to post-processing workflows. First, it allows key observations while still on site. Second, it can improve the efficiency of the survey, allowing areas of minimal change can be surveyed at coarser resolutions and areas of substantial change can be scanned at higher resolutions, reducing processing time and data maintenance. Finally, this method provides immediate validation and quality control, improving data confidence and allowing issues to be resolved on site.
